The new team member would be responsible for the representation and advocating for the interests of the Auto Club Enterprises members and policyholders before the Legislature, Administration, administrative agencies, industry and trade associations and related forums. Additional duties would entail Identifying all legislative and regulatory activities likely to affect the organization and work to assure identification of and protection of the organization and members’ interests. Continuously cultivating and maintaining positive working relationships with Legislators, organizations, and key business entities to ensure Club interests are championed and protected would round out the job duties. This position is based in Sacramento.
Represent and lobby on behalf of the organizations’ varied interests before the legislative committees, regulatory bodies and other forums as appropriate.
Advise, develop and implement legislative strategies to ensure organizations’ objectives are accomplished.
Oversee Auto Club Enterprises sponsored legislation when appropriate.
Facilitate participation in legislative matters, including, but not limited to, negotiating and drafting of bill amendments and preparing written and oral testimony.
Identify, research and analyze the impact of all legislation that may affect the organization, members and/or policyholders.
Serve as liaison between the Auto Club’s various internal operations and related governmental entities, boards, and commissions.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with legislators, elected officials, legislative and administration staff, agency personnel, and other lobbying groups.
Four-year college degree preferred. Law degree desired.
Minimum of five years legislative advocacy experience required.
Equivalent amount of legal experience (either litigation of transactional) in insurance-related field.
Exceptional written and oral communications skills.
Creative and resourceful in identifying problems and developing strategies and solution to solve them.
